Chimney Creek Ponds Project

In June 2019, GMPOA partnered with Blackfoot Challenge in Ovando to restore beaver ponds in community-owned Chimney Creek Park. Volunteers worked together to build mock beaver dams that created backwater pools to attract wildlife and allow our native westslope cutthroat trout to flourish. In July 2021, GMPOA and Blackfoot Challenge volunteers gathered to repair some dams and to build new ones. If the project continues to create the right habitat, we hope for eventual re-introduction of beaver along Chimney Creek.
